Galactic Wars EX

For me, Galactic Wars EX is the project where everything became 'serious'. It was my first big solo project, and I wanted to take the essence of the original PICO-8 game to a professional level. I kept the characteristic energy bar—which some loved and some hated—to provide a tactical depth that created a very solid space shmup. The game features a co-op mode, 3 worlds, and several final bosses. Instead of a standard procedural mode, I focused on organic enemy and environment behavior: even if you know which wave is coming, you never know which ship will attack first, making every playthrough different. I expanded the ship system with 3 different models that you can upgrade in-game to try different combat styles, blending Galaga's essence with Gradius-style power-ups. The project was funded through Kickstarter and took 11 months of development, plus a couple of months to manufacture the luxury physical edition, which is now completely SOLD OUT. None of this would have been possible without the people who supported me: the genius Beyker, who created the entire chiptune soundtrack on the Megadrive chip, and the testing by Sergio Ferredelo, Javier Larrea, and others. Thanks to JanduSoft, the game reached all current consoles like Switch and PS5. It was released in the West and Asia through EastAsiaSoft, who also created a physical edition with VGNYsoft for PS4, alongside another luxury physical edition for PS5 by Red Art Games. It’s the game that proved I could reach the whole world from my room.
